The performance was a culmination of a two-semester Renaissance class entitled "We Are Hmong". Hmong students gathered family stories and, along with some traditional folktales, were woven into a theatrical script. There were many challenges along the way; we had so much material that it was often a struggle to determine what to include and what to leave out as we came to a consensus on which direction the play would take. With the almost completed script in hand, we started the rehearsal process. The script grew and changed as we worked to bring the stories to life. For the majority of the actors, this was their first time on stage in front of an audience. We are Hmong was directed by Kreston Peckham.
